As Part of the “Protecting Them Is Our Duty” Campaign, Mansoura Commerce Discusses the Risks of Digital Addiction

In line with the university’s commitment to supporting its students and enhancing their digital awareness, and as part of the activities of the “Protecting Them Is Our Duty” campaign aimed at promoting safe internet usage, the Vice Dean’s Office for Community Service and Environmental Development, in cooperation with Dakahlia Media Administration, organized an awareness seminar on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, titled “Digital Addiction and Its Impact on Youth Mental Health.”

The seminar was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Hadidy, Professor of Psychiatry and Head of the Addiction Unit at the Faculty of Medicine. He addressed the concept of digital addiction, its major psychological and behavioral risks, and its impact on the general health of young people, in addition to presenting proper approaches to dealing with technology and social media.

The seminar included an open discussion with students, featuring interactive dialogue and direct questions that reflected the audience’s strong interest in the topic. The event concluded with an interactive competition during which incentive prizes were distributed to participating students, encouraging engagement and positive participation.

At the end of the seminar, the speaker recommended the importance of verifying news sources and relying on official channels to combat digital rumors, as well as rationalizing the use of social media to maintain mental well-being and achieve a balanced daily use of technology.
